The Dissonant Accost was a perzine/fanzine created by Lakisha of New York, NY, U.S.A. The first issue was probably published in 1992, based on a statement in #11 from January 1996 that the zine was nearly four years old. Lakisha, an African-American woman, attended Baruch College, at least for a while, during which time she produced, with her friend Abby Denson, a cable show called "Rools Like Ozzy."

Much of the hand and typewritten zine (based on #s 11 and 13) was show and music reviews. Lakisha also wrote about her relationship with her mother and sister.
