The Self-Publishers Events Council of Chicago or SPEC Chicago was formed in 2003 and dissolved in 2004. The organization, figureheaded by Brent Ritzel, was composed of zinesters, writers, bloggers, artists, performers and poets attempting to create alternative avenues for sharing self-published artistic expression with the public.

SPEC Chicago hosted a number of zine readings in Chicago, as well as a small number in other cities.
