Salamander was a science fiction fanzine published by Fred Patten.

Fred Patten published Salamander in Los Angeles, California, U.S.A., and released the first issue in January 1962. Issue 2 followed in March 1962 and the third, and last issue, in July 1962.

Contributors of cover art work included Karen Anderson (Alif, The Zed, Vorpal Glass) (Issue 3) and Bjo Trimble (Issue 1).

Contributions of writing included the article "The Asbestos Shelf" by Fred Patten on the work of Andre Norton, and fiction by Bruce Pelz.

Fred Patten was also one of the editors of Shangri L'Affaires for 1961, and Ipso Facto for 1963, and publisher and editor of Lefnui.
