SAIC stands for the Sequential Art Interest Community. SAIC started as a resident hall interest community in Turner House for the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). It was designed as a freshman interest community run by the Resident Assistants Ernest Gomez and Pranas T. Naujokaitis, both Sequential Art majors at the college. Beginning in the winter of 2007, Ernest and Pranas opened up membership to any SCAD student interested in sequential art and added more leaders. SAIC is now the closest thing SCAD has to an official SCAD-approved Sequential Art club.

Many members of SAIC are members of the Zine Team, a Savannah, Georgia-based zine and minicomic collective.

SAIC has been an active supporter of the Zine Team and advancement of underground media in the Savannah area. On Feburary 10, 2007 SAIC held the Mini Comic Explosion, a program aimed at educating people about how to make, print, and distribute zines and minicomics in Savannah. An open panel discusion was part of the program and included mini comics and zine creators Alex Bullett, Jon Chadurjian, Mary Reed, Jessica Clary, and Dan Morris.

Meetings

Weekly meetings are held every Friday during the school year usually at 8PM at Metro Cafe.
