Re/Search-Industrial Culture Handbook
Re/Search-Industrial Culture Handbook
RE/Search Magazine was a book-length publication, started in 1982, in San Francisco by V. Vale and Andrea Juno, following the demise of Vale's previous publication, the seminal punk zine, Search and Destroy. RE/Search kept with similar themes of punk music and underground culture, but took things a step further as the eighties wore on, with explorations of transgressive literature (Wm. Burroughs, Brion Gysin) industrial music and culture (Throbbing Gristle, Survival Research Labratories), and what is by far the most popular RE/Search book, Modern Primitives, which dealt with the then-new body modification movement. In the last decade, Vale split with long-time co-publisher, and now publishes similar titles under the name V Search Books. Juno went on to form Juno Books.
