The Olympia Zine Fest is an annual community event held in Olympia, Washington that promotes zines and other forms of DIY culture.

Thursday, October 22

Subversion: W.S. Burroughs and Noise Experiments
A screening of work by experimental filmmaker Marian Wallace. Q&A with Marian Wallace and V. Vale following the films. 6 PM Doors / 6:30 PM Films Capitol Theater, $7 general admission / $5 OFS members

Friday, October 23

Zinester Panel with V. Vale (Search and Destroy, RE/Search Magazine), Imogen Binnie (author of Nevada, Maximum Rock'n'Roll contributor), and Milo Miller (Queer Zine Archive Project). Facilitated by Joaquin De La Puente. Olympia Timberland Library, 7PM

Saturday, October 24

Olympia Zine Fest Expo
With zines by over 70 tablers Olympia Center, 12 PM – 5 PM

People of Color Caucus
Space for those negatively impacted by racism, who wish to discuss racism and power dynamics. Topics covered will be determined by participants, but may cover internalized racism, horizontal oppression, colorism, microaggressions, “race” in Olympia. POC Only. Facilitated by Anna Vo and Ari Perezdiez. Olympia Center, Room 101, 12:30 PM – 2 PM

Zine Event Organizing Chat
Facilitated by Alex Wrekk. Olympia Center, Room 101, 2 PM – 3:30 PM

Tabling Expo After Party at Obsidian
Music by The Fabulous Downey Brothers, Fruit Juice, and Mutiny Mutiny at Obsidian, 414 4th Ave E. $5, all ages. 7 PM doors / 7:30 PM music

Zine Fest kick-off event with Guest of Honor Osa Atoe, featuring live music by bands with members who also make zines: Spider and the Webs, Dr. Identity, VOG. Olympia Timberland Library, 7pm

Saturday, October 1

Tabling Expo
Olympia Center, 11am – 5pm

Teaching with Zines, facilitated by Greg Hatcher and Cathy Camper
Olympia Center, 2pm – 3:30pm

Game Night
A time to hang out and play board games with other zinesters after the expo. Obsidian, 7pm – 9pm

Sunday, October 2

Workshops:

11am to 12:30pm

  • Disability and Zines, with Sabine Rear and Kayla Rosen
  • How to Win at Zining: Advice from the Pros, a panel with Sage Adderley, Anna Vo, and Alex Wrekk
