The zine is noted for its illustrations by Price. Price is also the original editor of the photography zine Shots.
Moonlight Chronicles was selected as the winner of the "General Excellence--Zines" category in the 2004 Utne Independent Press Awards by the editors of Utne Reader. They describe the zine:
- From his subterranean hobbit house in rural eastern Oregon, cemetery caretaker Dan Price muses about the meaning of life, expressing himself via drawings, thoughtful journal entries, and excerpts gleaned from his esoteric reading.
