The zine is noted for its illustrations by Price. Price is also the original editor of the photography zine Shots.
Moonlight Chronicles was selected as the winner of the "General Excellence--Zines" category in the 2004 Utne Independent Press Awards by the editors of Utne Reader. They describe the zine:
