Matthew Asprey is a writer holed up in Sydney’s Inner-West.

Asprey is the editor of underground zines such as Sydney Samizdat, which he cranks out on an unregistered roneo at his own peril. His essays on music and literature have appeared at PopMatters.com and in the academic journals NEO and Interdisciplinary Themes. Short stories in such Australian journals as Island, Extempore, and Total Cardboard. His story ‘Gut Bucket Blues’ a finalist in the 2008 Australian National Jazz Writing Competition at the Melbourne Writers’ Festival. He is also the author of Tales from the Stolchlickoff Scrapbooks.

Matthew Asprey teaches creative writing at Macquarie University, Sydney.
