From 1986 to 2000, for 100 issues, MSRRT Newsletter was a source of reviews, commentary, and networking info for politically-minded library workers. Issued in print under the auspices of the Minnesota Library Association, the newsletter's scope included zines and periodicals covering such topics as economic justice, ethnic concerns, queer culture, feminism, sexuality and body image, environmentalism, human rights, peace, arts and labor.

Co-editor Chris Dodge became quite known as "The Zine Librarian" for all his hard work promoting zines to academic and public libraries. Today he writes about zines and the small press for Utne Reader and runs Street Librarian, a website which amalgamates alternative press links, activist librarian networking, a modicum of autobiography, and a few surprises.
