Library Journal, the oldest and most respected publication covering the library field, is read by over 100,000 library directors, administrators, and staff in public, academic, and special libraries. Jenna Freedman initiated the quarterly Zine Reviews column, which launched in the March 1, 2008, issue. As of March 2009, the column has moved online only and is featured in LJ's newest enewsletter, BookSmack! Zine librarians and other subject specialists from across the country evaluate more than 20 zines each year in various zine genres.

For review consideration, please send one copy along with information like the year it was produced, price, creator’s name, ordering/contact information, web address, and distros that stock your zine. For the Zines column, we do not consider publications that have a masthead, an ISSN, or a circulation of more than 2000 (consider submitting these for LJ's Magazine Reviews column), and creators must do much of the production and distribution themselves and may not charge significantly more than the zines cost to produce.
