For nearly a decade, Freak Tension zine has popped up around the country, usually at shows or record shops in Wisconsin or Minnesota, where it is based. It focuses on music reviews and horror stories.

Instead of including boring reviews about how pop band A sounds exactly like pop punk band B, author MP Johnson prefers to write about how pop punk band B would sound if they were produced by a pack of banana-hungry monkeys, rather than the inept troll they decided to work with.

The horror stories tend to feature punks or weirdos doing battle with zombies, werewolves, killer eyeballs or other mutants.

Freak Tension only appears sporadically. It has no set schedule. However, you can find its mutant little brother pretty easily. It takes the form of a regular column at http://www.razorcake.org.
