Chainbreaker was published by Shelley Jackson of New Orleans, LA with #4 as the last issue of the zine. An Anthology book of all four issues and 131 pages of new material was published in 2007 by Microcosm Publishing entitled The Chainbreaker Bike Book: A Rough Guide to Bicycle Maintenance.

Future issues were not released due to Hurricane Katrina destroyed all originals and materials for zine-making. Shelley quickly lost momentum and did not have copies of her own zine for a period.
