Kelly Dessaint started publishing zines and books under the name Phony Lid in 1998.

Kelly Dessaint was a constant presence on alt.zines for several years. He worked with and was eventually sued by Rev. Randall Tin-Ear of Angry Thoreauan Magazine. He published the fourth issue of the zine Sex and Guts in book format. Sex and Guts was edited by Gene Gregorits and Lydia Lunch and included interviews with Jim Goad of ANSWER Me!, Jello Biafra and many other underground musicians, artists, filmmakers and writers.

Zines published by Kelly Dessaint include Vagabond, FyUoCuK, vis-a-septic, and the celebrated Pick Pocket Books, which were essentially handmade zines masquerading as books. After a seven-year hiatus publishing, during which time he started the band A Nervous Splendor, he is currently putting out a personal narrative zine called Piltdownlad.
While some hardline zinesters would contend that zines and books (especially those with barcodes and ISBNs) were mutually exclusive, Kelly Dessaint employed the same principles to book publishing that he (and the vast majority of zinesters) did to zines: using whatever means were available to put words and images into print.

Blair Wilson is a zinester, artist and cartoonist from Seattle, WA. He has been published in hundreds zines along with publishing his own, including From Hell To Breakfast, Appearances,
Asphalt Aneurysm, The Scars to Prove It, Good Morning, Sweetie, Just Sampling and Your Nose Knows. Many of his publications have been collaborations with writer and poet Paul Weinman.

While Wilson may be primarily known for his comics, he works in several different mediums, often doing paintings and has even done limited edition hand painted dolls. He refers to his painting style as "squigglism," and it's unique in its intricate repeating shapes and continuously flowing and weaving lines that gives it an acid/drug-like quality.

Wilson has had a large number of gallery shows of his artwork and has also participated in a number zine events, including the zine exhibit at the 1997 Art's Edge festival and as a curator and exhibitor in 1997 Zine Fiend Festival (both in Seattle, WA).

Todd Moore is a poet in the shockism style. He says, "For your information gansta poetry in this country isn't Bukowski's invention, it's mine. I've been making this kind of stuff since 1970 give or take. And, it has nothing to do with Bukowski's style or subject matter. Bukowski was the pornagrapher of pussy and a damned good one at that. I'm the pornographer of violence." And a damn good one at that. His poetry is featured in many zines.

Kelly Dessaint published zines and books under the name Phony Lid, which was a faux publishing "empire." That is, the empire consisted of himself and an outdated Gateway ocmputer. While some hardline zinesters would contend that zines and books (especially those with barcodes and ISBNs) were mutually exclusive, Kelly Dessaint employed the same principles to book publishing that he (and the vast majority of zinesters) did to zines: using whatever means were available to put words and images into print.
